Leeds United manager Steve Evans has confirmed that striker Chris Wood is in contention for Saturday’s clash against Bolton Wanderers, but insists that the 24-year-old will not be risked if he isn’t 100 per cent fit to play.

Wood, who is Leeds’ top scorer this season, returned from a hamstring injury as a second half substitute in the 1-0 win over Bristol City on 23rd January and started Tuesday’s clash against Brentford.

However, the 24-year-old only lasted for 18 minutes and was replaced by Mirco Antenucci in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw.

The former West Brom and Leicester City striker missed four games in January due to a hamstring injury picked up in the 2-2 draw against Derby County on 29th December and looked to have suffered a setback in the game against Brentford.

Evans confirmed that the striker underwent a scan and the Whites are awaiting the results.

The 53-year-old also added that the 24-year-old looks better, however, the Elland Road outfit will deploy a no risk policy with the fitness of their star striker.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Evans said: "He's had his scan and we're waiting for the results. He looks a bit better so we're not ruling him out at this stage."

"We're at a stage of the season where it's a no risk policy. If Chris Wood isn't 100 per cent then he won't play.”

The Whites travel to the Macron Stadium to take on Bolton Wanderers in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday.
