Swansea City striker Bafetimbi Gomis’ move to Newcastle United has hit a stumbling block as they cannot agree on the length of a contract with the player or a fee with the Welsh club, according to French sports daily L'Equipe.

The Frenchman, who joined the Swans from Lyon in 2014, has struggled for consistency in the present campaign.

Gomis was not in the squad for the 2-1 Premier League win over Everton last weekend, with the forward scoring six goals in 23 games this season.

Newcastle, who reportedly contacted the player over a permanent switch this month, are however, yet to agree upon the length of the contract with Gomis.

While the Magpies are willing to offer a two-and-a-half-year-deal, the 30-year-old is holding out for a year more.

On top of it, Newcastle and Swansea have also failed to come to an agreement over the transfer fee.

Gomis, whose present deal with Swansea runs until 2018, has thus far made 59 appearances in all competitions for the Liberty Stadium outfit, scoring 16 times.

He also has 12 caps and three goals for France to his name.
