Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson feels Jordon Ibe has developed a sense of complacency since signing a new contract with the club.

The winger recently signed a new deal until 2020 with the Reds and has made 19 Premier League appearances this season, making him one of the important members of Jurgen Klopp’s team.

However, Ibe’s performance against West Ham yesterday was underwhelming as the Reds were held to a 0-0 draw and now will have to negotiate a replay at Upton Park to make it to the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Lawrenson was not impressed with the shift put in by the youngster and feels that there was a sense of complacency in his performance, which led to him making all the wrong decisions when on the ball.

He urged Ibe to keep working hard and getting better, to make it at Liverpool.

The Liverpool legend said on LFC TV after the West Ham game: “He's signed a new long term contract hasn't he? I just hope he's not sat on it, as in, I've done the hard work, I've got my contract, I'm playing in the team.

“I hope someone will say to him this is just the start. Yes you've earned it, but you've got to earn another one because it doesn't stop here, you don't stop learning.

“At the moment he seems to be making all the wrong decisions, which happens.”

Ibe will be hoping to be in the squad when Liverpool travel to take on league leaders Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday night.
