Leeds United have missed out on signing veteran Italian striker Antonio Floro Flores, who is heading to link up with Chievo Verona.

The Yorkshire giants lodged an enquiry for the 32-year-old hitman and were on his tail along with Genoa, for whom Floro Flores has had two prior spells.

But Chievo Verona made a move for the player and have snaffled him up from Sassuolo.

Floro Flores posted a photograph on his official Facebook page of him signing a contract with Chievo Verona.

It now appears increasingly unlikely that Leeds will be able to add to their attacking options before the transfer window slams shut.

Whites boss Steve Evans had been hopeful of securing the services of another striker, while he was also in the market for further additions.

However, Leeds have opted to sit on most of the £3.7m fee received from West Ham United for Sam Byram, with just £600,000 going to sign Toumani Diagouraga from Brentford.
