Bayern Munich have announced the loan signing of German defender Serdar Tasci from Spartak Moscow until the end of the season.

A product of VfB Stuttgart’s academy, the defender joined the Russian outfit in 2013 and has been a lynchpin of their side in the last few years, turning in consistent performances in defence.

With a number of their key players injured, the German champions decided to strengthen their squad for the latter half of the campaign and have brought him on loan until the summer.

The Bavarians also have the option of making the move permanent at the end of the campaign and sporting director Matthias Sammer feels that Tasci is a good signing for the club in the short term.

The Bayern Munich sporting director told the club’s official website: “We are glad that for the short term, we have been given the opportunity to bring in a player such as Tasci to Bayern.
