Former Celtic striker Andy Walker admits that he expected the Bhoys to put up more of a fight after going behind against Aberdeen last night.

The Dons scored a crucial 2-1 win over Celtic last night at Pittodrie, as they cut down Ronny Deila’s side’s lead down to just three points at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.

Strikes from Jonny Hayes and Simon Church helped the home side to go into the break with a two-goal lead and while Leigh Griffith scored in stoppage time to provide some late hope to the Bhoys, they never looked like coming back into the game.

Walker admits that he expected Celtic to come flying out after the break to launch a comeback, and he was surprised to see the meek display they put in, which never allowed any pressure to build on the home side in the final 45 minutes of the game.

The former Bhoy said on Sky Sports as he summed up the match last night: “I expected a bigger reaction from Celtic, not only at the weekend when they were 3-1 down to Ross County.

“But after going two goals behind, I expected a bigger reaction in the second half, and I didn’t see it.

“Celtic’s history is based on coming back from adversity.”

With back-to-back losses under their belt, the Scottish giants will be looking to make a statement of intent when they take on East Kilbride in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Sunday.
