Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has reiterated his desire to be a complete midfielder.

The 25-year-old has enjoyed a more central role in Arsene Wenger’s side since the injuries suffered by Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin.

However, the Welshman has received criticism recently for his dip in form, which has coincided with Arsenal’s poor showing in the last four league games.

The Gunners are without a league in the last four Premier League games and have only picked up three points out of a possible 12.

The Emirates outfit have dropped down to fourth in the league and their chances of lifting a first league title in 12 years have suffered a blow.

Ramsey has scored five goals and picked up three assists in 27 games for the Gunners this season.

The 25-year-old has insisted that he prefers to move forward and get into goalscoring positions, but also likes to help the team out defensively.

According to the Welshman, a complete midfielder needs to be good at defending while also be able to contribute effectively when the team drives forward, and he strives to become that.

Speaking in an interview with Arsenal Player, Ramsey said: “I prefer to get forward, to get on the end of things, to create things. But it’s important to defend and help the team out defensively as well.

“But it’s also nice when you win the ball in quite a deep position and then you can start an attack which leads to a goal. That’s quite rewarding as well.

“An all-round midfielder needs to have that, where you can defend, you can tackle, you can create goals, you can score goals. That’s the complete midfielder that I want to be.”

Wenger’s men travel to Dean Court on Sunday to take on Bournemouth and will be hoping to end their four match winless run.
