Arsenal legend Martin Keown feels that Tottenham Hotspur should not make the mistake of fielding a weakened team in the Europa League simply because they are now involved in the Premier League title race.

Tottenham currently sit second in the league table, five points behind leaders Leicester City, and edged out Watford 1-0 at White Hart Lane yesterday.

Belief over a title challenge is growing at White Hart Lane, but the club will have the Europa League on the agenda later this month with the first leg of their round of 32 tie against Fiorentina.

Keown is impressed with Spurs in the Premier League, but feels not treating the Europa League with importance would be a mistake as the north London side need to maintain their momentum.

"The Europa League is very interesting to see how they are going to manage that competition", Keown said on BBC Radio 5 live, ahead of the Watford game.

"They play Fiorentina later in the month, two games, home and away.

"Do they almost sack that competition off? Or are they going to try and go and win everything?

"I think that has to be the attitude that breeds confidence, winning one game after another", Keown added.

Before they face Fiorentina, Spurs have a trip to take on Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on the agenda for next weekend as they bid to keep their title push going.

Fiorentina currently sit third in Serie A.
