Tottenham Hotspur right-back Kieran Trippier has expressed his delight at having managed to fulfill his manager's expectation of playing as a virtual right-winger against Watford this weekend.

Trippier contributed with his first goal for the Lilywhites as his team beat the Hornets 1-0 at White Hart Lane thus climbing up to second spot in the league table.




The former Manchester City man expressed his delight at having managed to score the goal, insisting that it was just the thing that the manager had wanted to see from him.

The 25-year-old in fact performed an attacking role in the match playing as a supplementary right winger throughout the entire match, managing to add to the scoresheet in the process.
 


Trippier also took time to credit Dele Alli for having assisted his goal, providing him with the all important cross from which to captitalise.

“Dele went down the left and I thought to myself ‘just run up the field, try to get on the back stick’”, Trippier told his club's official website.

“That’s what the manager wants to see, me playing as a right winger. It just fell to me and I was delighted to score my first goal for Tottenham.

“I don’t even know what was going through my mind afterwards. I was delighted to score but the most important thing was that the team got the three points.

“I thought we were dominant from start to finish. We always believe we’re going to score and win. Our fitness levels are there, we can run for 95 minutes, we kept believing and the goal came.

"It’s an important win and a massive three points.”

The north Londoners are set to visit Manchester City next on Sunday for an all crucial league encounter.
