Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp feels that his side did not deserve to lose 2-1 after extra time to West Ham in the FA Cup this evening and bemoaned a series of decisions he would have found funny had his men not lost.

The game was entertaining from the off, with Liverpool playing well despite fielding a youthful side. Philippe Coutinho hit the post just after the half hour mark, while Dimitri Payet saw a superb free-kick pushed onto the post in the 38th minute.

West Ham pulled ahead just before half time when Enner Valencia picked out Michail Antonio at the back post. He made no mistake, guiding the ball into the back of the net.

Liverpool were level within three minutes of the start of the second half and it came from a free-kick, as Coutinho drilled the ball underneath the jumping wall, making it 1-1.

Each side pushed for a winner in normal time and West Ham had a strong penalty appeal turned down in the 66th minute.

It eventually headed into extra time and right at the death, as penalties loomed, Angelo Ogbonna connected with a header and made it 2-1. Lucas Leiva had given away the free-kick and Payet found Ogbonna with a pinpoint ball.

West Ham had won, but Liverpool boss Klopp was seeing the positive from a performance he feels was good from his men.

"It’s hard. We were the better team, created chances and played good football, but we didn’t use them", Klopp told BT Sport after the final whistle.

The Reds boss also feels refereeing decisions did not go his way and he felt the foul given against Lucas which led to West Ham's winner was wrong.

"There were lots of decisions that on a better day I’d say were funny decisions. I don’t think it was a free-kick, but I’d have to see it again.

"It’s not easy because we were only here to win.

"You don’t have to show your best, you just have to go to the next round.

"The door was wide open for us because we did well, but it was not enough. We have to carry on and fight in the next game."
