Leigh Griffiths has insisted that Celtic will be gunning for revenge when they take on Ross County in a Scottish Premiership match on Saturday.

The Hoops’ dreams of winning the domestic treble were ended by the Staggies in late December when Ronny Deila’s team went down 3-1 in a League Cup semi-final at Hampden Park.

Despite taking a first minute lead through Gary Mackay-Steven, Celtic were rocked by goals apiece from Martin Woods, Paul Quinn and Alex Schalk.

Celtic, who are currently top of the Premiership, however, remained on course for a domestic double after beating East Kilbride 2-0 in a Scottish Cup game at the weekend, thereby setting a quarter-final meeting with Greenock Morton next month.

But Griffiths does not want Celtic to focus on the cup game yet as the striker, who has scored 29 goals this season, urged his side to extract revenge against Ross County at Celtic Park.

“I just need to keep fit. We’ve got a lot of games before then and hopefully I will have scored a few goals before it”, he told Celtic TV.

“When the tie comes around, hopefully I’m in the starting line-up and I can chip in with a few.

“The first thing we need to do, though, is take care of Ross County on Saturday.

“We want revenge from the semi-final defeat. It’s not going to be easy. They’ll be well-organised but hopefully the fans get behind us and we can give it a right go from the off.

“We’ll go in with a clear head. It’s all about going out and getting the three points and keeping our lead at the top of the table.”

The corresponding fixture resulted in a 4-1 win for Celtic in November.
