West Ham defender Aaron Cresswell has revealed that his side are willing to sacrifice their high league position in favour of a trip to Wembley to attempt to win the FA Cup.

The Hammers, who are currently sixth in the Premier League with 39 points from 25 games, eight adrift of fourth-placed Manchester City, are set to face Liverpool in a fourth round FA Cup replay at Upton Park tonight after the original tie ended 0-0 at Anfield last month.

And Cresswell insisted that while ideally West Ham would want a high Premier League finish along with winning the FA Cup, the left-back was quick to add that most of his team-mates would prefer a trip to Wembley over finishing a spot or two higher in the league.

“Everyone wants the best of both worlds I suppose, we want to finish high up in the Premier League and win the FA Cup final”, he told the club’s official site.

“If you ask any of the lads though, if they had the chance of getting to Wembley but sacrificing a league position or two – I’m sure they would snap your hand off.”

West Ham, who have won just one of their last five games in all competitions, have already beaten Liverpool twice in the Premier League this season.

Slaven Bilic’s team thrashed the Reds 3-0 at Anfield in August before recording a 2-0 win over the Merseyside giants at Upton Park in January.
