Former Celtic midfielder Lubo Moravcik thinks Aberdeen challenging for the Premiership title is a good sign for Scottish football.

The Dons edged out the Hoops 2-1 in a top of the table clash last week to spice up the title race.

Celtic and Aberdeen both are currently on 55 points, although Ronny Deila’s team have a game in hand; and Moravcik claimed that it would have been boring if his former side were runaway leaders such as Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1.

The loss at Aberdeen was preceded by a 3-1 defeat against Ross County in a League Cup semi-final which ended Celtic’s hopes of a domestic treble.

It has been suggested in some corners that Deila’s position at Celtic Park is under threat, following the two consecutive loses.

However, Moravcik feels all is well at the club as he dubbed the two losses “small crisis”, with the Slovakian giving the example of struggling Premier League champions Chelsea.

“I do know that Celtic have lost a couple of games in a row but they are still top of the league with a game in hand”, he told the Scotland Herald.

"There is nothing wrong. It's a small crisis. Look at Manchester United and Chelsea struggling in England with Leicester top of the league.

“It's good for English football and I think it's good for Scotland that Aberdeen are challenging. It's good that someone is close to Celtic.

“The players will now be saying, ‘We have to concentrate and go forward’. If Celtic were 20 points ahead like PSG are in France it would be boring. It is better that Aberdeen are close.”
