Jorge Mendes’ lawyers are preparing the final details of Jose Mourinho’s proposed contract with Manchester United, according to Spanish daily El Confidencial.

Despite Louis van Gaal’s irritation, the din surrounding the former Chelsea boss’ proposed summer move to Manchester United is increasing with each passing day, with many believing it is a foregone conclusion that Mourinho will be their manager by the time the next season rolls out.

The Portuguese has been out of a job since being sacked by Chelsea in December, and it emerged last week that the Red Devils have been in talks with the 53-year-old's representatives over a proposed move to Old Trafford.

With Manchester United falling behind the top four race, coupled with Manchester City announcing Pep Guardiola as their manager from next season, the traditional Manchester heavyweights are said to be keen to respond by appointing Mourinho as their next boss.

And it seems a deal is getting ever closer as it has been suggested that Mendes’ lawyers are finalising the details of the contract that would see Mourinho become Manchester United manager at the end of the season.

It has been claimed that the Red Devils are prepared to offer him a €20m per season contract until July 2019 and the deal could be finalised in the coming days in Mendes’ London office.

Mendes, who is also Mourinho’s agent, has a strong working relationship with Manchester United and especially Ed Woodward, with the club signing a number of the Portuguese’s clients over the last few years.

Van Gaal recently rubbished the reports suggesting that the club are in talks with the former Chelsea manager, and still believes he will be given time to complete his three-year project.
