Tottenham Hotsput defender-cum-midfielder Eric Dier has insisted that he and his team-mates work hard every day to try and improve as individuals and will not use the excuse of being a young side if they slip up.

The Lilyhwites have a relatively young squad on offer this term, working under the stewardship of manager Mauricio Pochettino.

But in spite of the inexperience, the team have done a good job, being placed second in the league table with 48 points, five below league leaders Leicester City.

However, there is a certain apprehension that the north Londoners won't be able to hold on to their impressive form for the distance and will succumb to the intense pressure.

Dier though insists that they are doing everything they can in order to make sure that they prove their doubters wrong. According to the 22-year-old, they keep working hard every day on the training pitch in order to make sure that they improve individually.

“We’re all young but we don’t want any excuses like ‘they’re young, they won’t be able to handle it’", Dier told his club's official website.

"So we work hard every day to try and improve as individual players and as a team and the manager won’t settle for anything less.

“We train hard every day and the only aim is to improve. We’re all young and we all want to keep on improving.

"Hugo Lloris is one of the most experienced players here but he always wants to improve and wants to get better and that’s the perfect example for everyone to follow."
