Rangers manager Mark Warburton is unimpressed by the change in width of Alloa Athletic's pitch and has compared the alteration made by the bottom placed club to having two referees instead of one, or changing the size of the goals.

Alloa Athletic have reduced the width of the pitch at Recreation Park to 60 metres from 69 metres ahead of tomorrow’s clash against the Gers.

Jack Ross’ side currently sit at the bottom of the Scottish Championship and are on course to get relegated.

The relegation threatened club implemented the changes to their pitch size after receiving clearance from Scottish Professional Football League.

Warburton was left perplexed that a side were allowed to change the size of the pitch mid-season and when asked about the reason behind his reaction, the 53-year-old likened the change in dimensions to a change in size of the goals mid-season, or to having two referees instead of one half way through the season.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Warburton said: “Would you change the size of the goals mid-season?

"Would you have two referees, not one, mid-season? It's just a personal opinion.

“I've never heard of it down south, where you can change the dimension of the pitch halfway through the season. I find it bizarre.

"It won't change anything from our point of view and, speaking to other managers earlier in the week, some spoke about changing tactics because of the narrowness of the pitch.

"It's another challenge but it is a bizarre decision that you allow a pitch to change mid-season."

The Gers will be looking to secure a win tomorrow to maintain their eight-point lead at the top of the Scottish Championship.
