Ex-Liverpool star Jason McAteer has urged Jurgen Klopp to stick with the team that beat Aston Villa 6-0 on Sunday for the remainder of the season.

Six different Liverpool players scored at Villa Park as Klopp watched his side crush the Premier League's bottom club in style.

Liverpool have been inconsistent under the German, who has often needed to chop and change his side due to injuries.

Now though, McAteer wants to see Klopp stick with the side which beat Aston Villa as much as possible for the remainder of the season.

And with a number of key games coming up, including in the Europa League, in which Liverpool resume their campaign on Thursday against FC Augsburg, and the League Cup final against Manchester City, McAteer thinks consistent team selection will pay off.

"I'd like to see him go with this team. I'd like to see him pick a consistent eleven", he said on LFC TV.

"He's been at the football club long enough and had a good look at everybody, right through the football club.

"There's not much you would change there from the strongest starting eleven and I'd like to see him with the games to go and the cup competitions to get a level of consistency with the personnel.

"And I'm sure results will come off the back of that", the former midfielder added.

Liverpool are next in action on Thursday against Bundesliga side Augsburg.
