West Ham United co-chairman David Gold says that striker Diafra Sakho is in good spirits despite being out injured.

The striker will miss tomorrow's FA Cup tie against Blackburn Rovers, as the Hammers bid to move one step closer to Wembley following their win over Liverpool in the last round.

But Gold says that Sakho still remains upbeat and focused on returning to action for Slaven Bilic's men.

Gold was asked on Twitter whether Sakho will be in the squad to face Blackburn and replied: "No Sakho is not in the squad for Sunday's match but I saw he yesterday at the training ground, he was very upbeat." [sic]

So far this season Sakho has been restricted to just 14 appearances in all competitions due to injury, scoring only five goals.

The striker will be aiming to return to action as quickly as possible to help West Ham's charge, with the Hammers currently seventh in the league standings and only one point behind fifth placed Manchester United.

West Ham are keen to secure European football for next season as they move into their new stadium, the Olympic Stadium.
