Celtic captain Scott Brown has lavished praise on teenage full-back Kieran Tierney for his performances this season in the first team.

A Celtic youth academy graduate, the youngster has grabbed his opportunities with both hands this season and has secured a starting berth in Ronny Deila’s first eleven.

Despite being just 18, Tierney has managed to make the left-back position his own in recent weeks and has kept the more experienced Emilio Izaguirre out of the playing eleven, which Brown feels is testament to the youngster’s ability.

The Celtic captain has been mightily impressed with the attitude shown by the young full-back and revealed that Tierney is one of the fittest men in the Bhoys first team squad at the moment.

The midfielder said on Celtic TV when asked about Tierney: “He comes in and he is as honest as anyone else. He works hard, and is one of the fittest lads [in the squad].

“He goes out there, and every day he gives his 110 per cent. Emilio is a top draw, has been doing well for the last four or five seasons, and he is managing to keep him out of the team.

“It shows you how the man is playing.”

Tierney has already made 21 senior apperances for Celtic thus far, and has also earned four international caps for Scotland Under-19s.
