Celtic academy coach Tommy McIntyre has explained that although his side’s unbeaten run is a good habit, he thinks it will come to an end eventually and is not the most important thing when it comes to player development.

The Hoops, who thrashed Dundee United 4-1 in the Developmental League on Tuesday, are yet to lose a game in the league in the present campaign.

Celtic Under-20s have won 21 of their 23 league outings this season, while drawing twice.

The Scottish giants’ impressive form sees the club 13 points clear at the top of the Developmental League with three games in hand.

Academy boss McIntyre, who conceded that Celtic’s unbeaten run is bound to come to an end sometime, insisted that his charges are enjoying their game and are gaining valuable experience by playing alongside first team players.

“The unbeaten run is a good habit but it will come to an end sometime”, he told Celtic’s official site.

“As long as they’re enjoying their football and playing well and getting experience of playing with first-team players as well then it’s a good education for them.”

Celtic, whose two draws this season have come against Hamilton Academical and St Mirren, will next take on Inverness CT on Tuesday before tackling St Johnstone a week later.
