Leeds United starlet Ronaldo Vieira has earned a glowing assessment of his progress from Whites youth coach Jason Blunt, who pointed out he was the best player on the pitch in a recent Under-21s game against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Vieira clocked up all 90 minutes in Under-21 matches against Crystal Palace and Birmingham City last week, with both games ending in 0-0 draws.

Blunt feels Vieira understandably felt some fatigue in the second game, against Birmingham, but was the best player on the pitch against Palace, something which bodes well given both the quality of opposition and the fact he has only just stepped up to Under-21 level.

Asked on BBC Radio Leeds about the next crop to potentially break through to the senior ranks, Blunt pointed to Vieira and talked up the youngster's progress at Elland Road.

"You've obviously got Ronaldo Vieira who did extremely well the other day and could have scored two or three", he explained.

"[Against Birmingham] you probably didn't see him at his best because he's only just stepped up to the 21s, probably his first full game.

"He hasn't trained much with the 21s, so for him to go and have the game like he did the other day, up against the likes of Jason Puncheon, and be the best player on the pitch.

"He was another boy that was tired [against Birmingham], but you can't take the experience of playing at Elland Road away from him", Blunt added.

Vieira has generated considerable excitement amongst Leeds fans and Blunt's assessment of the talent will no doubt raise expectations still further.
