Former England Under-21 boss Stuart Pearce believes Tottenham Hotspur are not receiving the plaudits they deserve because they are chasing down Leicester City at the top of the Premier League table.

Spurs beat Manchester United 3-0 in impressive style today to close the gap to the Foxes to seven points with five games left to play in the campaign.

Mauricio Pochettino's side are all but certain to secure Champions League football for next season and may even win their first top flight title since the 1960s.

However, Pearce does not feel Spurs are getting enough credit and he believes if they were battling with one of the league's big boys for the title then the plaudits would surely come their way.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 live after the match, Pearce said: "Spurs are a vastly improving team.

"They're growing. They've got a good academy, a manager who isn't afraid to put young players into the first team, and if they were chasing a Manchester City or Chelsea at the top of the table they would be getting more plaudits than they are currently", he added.

Next up for Spurs is a visit to Stoke City next Monday evening; the Potters went down 4-1 away at Liverpool earlier today.

Tottenham then host West Brom at home before a crunch visit to Chelsea arrives on 2nd May.
