Stoke City defender Phil Bardsley has explained that his side are working on rectifying the mistakes they made against Liverpool last weekend in view of coming out with a positive result in the Premier League meeting with Tottenham Hotspur on Monday night.

The Potters were totally outplayed at Anfield, with the Merseyside giants running out 4-1 winners in the league fixture, despite throwing fringe players into their team.

Stoke are currently in the midst of a mini slump as they have managed to win just one of their last five Premier League outings.

However, Bardsley insisted that his side are eyeing putting in an impressive performance against Spurs, who are in the running for the Premier League title, at the Britannia Stadium.

“We have dusted ourselves down this week, looked at what went wrong on the day and we are working to rectify that in time for the game on Monday night”, he told the club’s official site.

“Hopefully we can bounce back with an impressive performance and result against a side who still harbour ambitions of lifting the Premier League trophy.”

Stoke, who are currently ninth in the Premier League with 47 points from 33 games, are seven places and 18 points adrift of Tottenham.

The corresponding fixture between the two teams resulted in a 2-2 draw at White Hart Lane in August.
