Leeds United supremo Massimo Cellino says that current head coach Steve Evans "talks to much" and must "learn to shut his mouth".

Evans was appointed by Cellino in October this year after Uwe Rosler was shown the door. The German led Leeds to a slow start to the Championship season and paid the price with his job.

Cellino told Evans to keep Leeds in the Championship, which he guaranteed on Saturday with a 3-2 win at home over Reading.

But the Italian has further advice for a head coach he has been tipped to usher out of Elland Road in the summer, telling him he must learn to be tight-lipped.

Speaking to the Telegraph, Cellino said of Evans: "He talks too much.

"He has to learn to shut his mouth. I’ve told him so many times to stop, you have no idea. But he doesn’t."

It has been claimed that former Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro could succeed Evans in the summer, but Cellino has ruled out any chance of the ex-defender taking the head coach's job at Elland Road.

"I’m 100 per cent not looking to appoint Cannavaro as manager.

"There’s not one chance", the Leeds owner added.

Leeds currently sit 12th in the Championship standings.
