Former Manchester City winger Trevor Sinclair feels that after games against Manchester City and Liverpool, Newcastle United are two points in front of where they thought they would be.

The Magpies held Manchester City to a draw at St. James' Park on Tuesday night, coming from behind to draw 1-1. And they repeated the trick at Anfield on Saturday, coming from 2-0 down at half time to claim a share of the spoils against Liverpool.

Now Newcastle have 30 points from 35 games and Sinclair feels that is two points more than they would have expected to have before they faced Manchester City and Liverpool.

He said on the BBC's Final Score programme after the final whistle: "I think if you asked any of the players realistically if the point at home against Man City who are flying, and the point at Anfield [against Liverpool] who are also flying [was what they expected], I think they would say they are two points ahead of where they thought they would be.

"So two points, a lot of positives and they can move on to the next game", he added.
