Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is interested in signing Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi during the summer transfer window, it has been claimed.

The German coach is keen to strengthen the Liverpool defence for next season and is identifying potential targets he wants the club to pursue once the transfer window opens in July.

And according to Valencia-based daily Super Deporte, Klopp has identified 24-year-old German defender Mustafi as someone he wants to take to Anfield this summer to add more meat to his side’s rearguard.

It has been suggested that Liverpool have been keeping a watch on the defender for months, and are again set to send scouts to the Mestalla on Sunday to watch Mustafi in action for Valencia against Villarreal.

Klopp is believed to have studied the scouting reports on the German defender, and has asked the club to get a deal done for the 24-year-old this summer.
