Aberdeen defender Shay Logan believes returning to the Scottish Premiership will be a culture shock for Rangers next season.

The Gers, who secured the Scottish Championship earlier in the season, will return to the top flight for the first time since they had to start in the fourth tier following their liquidation in 2012.

Mark Warburton’s team also managed to win the Challenge Cup, in addition to reaching the final of the Scottish Cup by beating Celtic in the Old Firm derby.

But Logan, who played under Warburton at Brentford, thinks Rangers will find it difficult to adjust to life in the Premiership, owing to the vast difference in quality between it and the Scottish Championship.

However, the Aberdeen star was quick to add that he still feels the Ibrox outfit will be able to pose formidable challenge in the top tier.

"No disrespect to the Championship, but there are teams in that division that are nowhere near the standard there is in the Premiership”, Logan was quoted as saying by the Herald Scotland.

"That's why I think Rangers will get a shock at the quality they come across – not just from us, but from Hearts and the likes of Ross County, Dundee and Motherwell.

"It is going to be a bit of a culture shock for them adapting to being back in the top flight again.

"It is going to be a lot harder for Rangers next season, but Mark knows that and will be looking to bring in the players to cope.

"Don't get me wrong, I think they will be challenging, but they will find it tough as we will be right up there again.

"Hearts will be looking to improve as well and, if Hibs get back up, they will fancy their chances. It is all set for an exciting league.

“I'm certainly not surprised how Mark has done at Rangers as he only just failed to get Brentford promoted to the English Premier League.

"In fact, he would probably still be there if the owner had gone about things differently as it was down to how players were brought in and stuff like that as to why he left.”

Rangers will look to win their third trophy of the season when they take on Hibernian in the Scottish Cup final on 21st May.
