Leeds United head coach Steve Evans believes club president Massimo Cellino is close to deciding his fate at Elland Road.

Evans’ men have been in good form over the course of the last few weeks and with just two games left to play this season, Leeds could finish in the Championship’s top ten for the first time since 2011.

However, Evans’ future at the club is yet to be decided as his contract expires at the end of the campaign and the Leeds boss has not received any assurances yet that he will remain in charge for next season.

The Leeds boss admits that D-Day is approaching and feels the club’s Italian owner must be close to making a decision on whether he wants to offer him a new contract to keep him at the club next season.

When asked whether he is aware of any developments on his contract front, Evans said in a press conference: “I am not aware of any changes in the last week.

“It is obviously very close now to the president making his decision; listen I have come here with full knowledge that this day would come and the day is coming so much closer.

“I just have to offer them that respect and let them make the decision; I want to stay, I have made that clear that I don’t want to be anywhere else.

“I love this football club and respect it.”

Leeds will host Charlton Athletic at Elland Road tomorrow, before finishing their season at Preston North End a week from Saturday.
