Liverpool legend David Fairclough feels Jurgen Klopp’s positivity rubbing off on the players could be a key feature for the club going forward.

The Merseyside giants’ seven-game unbeaten run in all competitions came to an end last night when they were edged out 1-0 by Villarreal in a Europa League semi-final first leg.

Just when it looked like the game at El Madrigal was heading towards a goalless draw, Adrian Lopez’s injury time strike proved to be the difference between the two teams.

Liverpool found themselves in a more challenging position in the previous round of the competition when they had to score three goals in the last 25 minutes to beat Borussia Dortmund.

And Fairclough, who thinks Klopp oozes positivity, believes the Liverpool players are also learning from the German’s positive attitude.

“If you get into a slump then you're not going to achieve anything”, he told LFC TV.

“You've got to have positivity and Jurgen oozes it.

“The players have picked up so many things from him and hopefully that [the positivity] is going to be a feature of Liverpool going forward.

“It's how it's been in years gone by and it's a learning curve at the moment.”

Liverpool, who will play Swansea City in an away Premier League game on Sunday, will welcome Villarreal to Anfield for the return leg four days later.
