Chelsea interim boss Guus Hiddink has explained that Mauricio Pochettino is doing a “very good job” at Tottenham Hotspur, ahead of the teams’ Premier League meeting on Monday.

The Argentine, who took charge of Spurs in 2014, has made the club title contenders in the present campaign, although it seems they will fall short.

Tottenham are currently seven points adrift of leaders Leicester City with just three league games remaining in the season.

Earlier in the day, Pochettino announced that he is set to sign a new deal with the club which will keep him at White Hart Lane until 2021.

And Hiddink, who praised Pochettino’s work at Tottenham, insisted that he is a fan of the north London outfit’s style of play.

“They have a very good squad and they are having a very good season”, the Dutchman said in his pre-match press conference.

“I respect very much the work Mauricio Pochettino is doing at this club in a very calm way, knowing what he is doing, and it shows in the team.

“I watch many, many matches and they play in the way I like to see a team play.

“He is doing a very good job over there.”

Tottenham, who were held to a 1-1 draw by West Bromwich Albion last Monday, played out a goalless draw with Chelsea in the corresponding fixture at White Hart Lane in November.
