Luton Town have confirmed that Paul Hart, who recently left his role as academy head at Leeds United, has become assistant manager at the club.

The 62-year-old had been earmarked for a long term role at Leeds when he took over the club's academy earlier this season, but departed Elland Road due to personal reasons.

Now Hart has bounced straight back into football by taking up the assistant's post at Luton.

And Hart is looking forward to the challenge of preparing Luton over the summer for the 2016/17 campaign. He is also happy to link up with Hatters manager Nathan Jones.

The experienced coach told Luton's official site: "It feels great to be here. I've been looking forward to this and I feel very lucky. I've had 45 years in football and to come to a prestigious club like Luton, especially in this position as assistant manager is great, I'm very lucky.

"Obviously I knew Nathan from our time at Charlton Athletic, and I knew Mick Harford. I spoke to Gary Sweet about the organisation above the football, and I was very impressed. It feels great to come to a place that has a pathway to future success", Hart continued.

"My priority over the summer will be to make sure that our pre-season is bang-on and we get exactly what we can from that and that we're flying when we come back.

"The size of the support at Luton is incredible and we're looking to give the supporters quality, winning football."

Luton currently sit 14th in League Two, having collected 63 points from their 45 games so far; one game remains for the Hatters, at home against Exeter on Saturday.

The Hatters regularly attract good support and had 7,606 fans at their most recent home game, against Newport.

Leeds meanwhile have yet to appoint a replacement for Hart, who is widely respected in youth development circles.
