Manchester City and Liverpool linked goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has confirmed that he will continue at Barcelona beyond the summer.

Speculation has been on the rise in recent months that after struggling to wrestle the number one jersey from Claudio Bravo over the last couple of season, the German is looking to leave Barcelona at the end of the season for more first team football.

Liverpool were interested in signing the former Borussia Monchengladbach man, and even Pep Guardiola was reportedly keen to see him wear Manchester City colours at the start of the new campaign.

However, Barcelona reportedly convinced Ter Stegen that he is their future number one and the player confirmed that he has no plans to leave the Camp Nou, as he and his family feel settled.

He reiterated his desire to play more first team football in Barcelona colours next season.

“I want to stay here.

“I want to play [more] of course, that has always been the goal.”

Ter Stegen has again been a regular in cup competitions, including the Champions League, for Barcelona this season, but has made just five La Liga appearances.
