Leeds United head coach Steve Evans has revealed that a number of clubs are interested in talking to him at the end of the campaign, but reiterated his desire to remain at Elland Road and win promotion next season.

Evans’ future at the club has been a source of speculation for weeks now as his contract expires at the end of the season, but Massimo Cellino is yet to offer him a new deal to remain at Elland Road.

With only one game left in the season, there is still no guarantee that the Scot will remain Leeds boss next week, but Evans insisted that he has options on the table as a number of clubs are interested in recruiting him.

However, he stressed that he wants to remain Leeds boss to offer the club some stability this summer and indicated that with his track record, he could carry the club into the thick of the promotion fight next season.

The Leeds boss said in a press conference: “I take comfort from the people that represent me and look after me, who are telling me that there are football clubs who would like to have a chat with me.

“And my word has been consistent all the way through is that I want to be head coach at Leeds United. When you are inside this football club you realise how special it is.

“There are other special football clubs there but I am head coach here and seeing what we have gone through in the last six or seven months, I will not only be offering stability but offering the team a chance to work with a head coach who has a significant track record and a CV of winning promotion.”

Cellino is expected to convey his decision regarding Evans’ future, to the Scot next week and tomorrow’s trip to Preston could be his last as Leeds manager.
