Rangers boss Mark Warburton has revealed that striker Martyn Waghorn has looked fit and hungry since his recovery and will be ready for the Scottish Cup final against Hibernian.

The striker, who has managed a superb 28 goals in 35 overall matches for the Gers this season, has just returned to action post an injury which had kept him out of a whole host of games between mid-February and April.

However, the 26-year-old has now recovered full match fitness and was involved in the match against St Mirren earlier this month, though it was for the only 60 minutes.

The 53-year-old manager is happy with what he has seen from Waghorn and credits the player and the medical staff, who have been working overtime to ensure the striker's recovery.

And now with the former Wigan Athletic player expected to enjoy some more minutes against Tottenham in a behind closed doors friendly before locking horns against Hibernian, Warburton insists that there will be an even fitter and hungrier Waghorn for the Scottish Cup final.

“He got a good hour at St Mirren. All credit to Martyn for his application during his rehab and to the staff who worked with him, they worked tirelessly as well", Warburton told his club's official website.

“So the end result is that you saw a very fit, eager Martyn and I was delighted with his hour contribution at St Mirren.

“He looked sharp, he looked strong, quick and we’ve missed that.

"He’s now going to play more minutes at Spurs and, touch wood and all going well, he’ll be ready for the final.”
