Martyn Waghorn has insisted that his target of scoring 30 goals this season is on, ahead of Rangers’ Scottish Cup final meeting with Hibernian on Saturday.

The striker, who joined Rangers on a three-year deal from Wigan Athletic last summer, has thus far scored 28 goals in 35 appearances in all competitions for the Scottish giants, in addition to providing eight assists.

Waghorn would have possibly already crossed the 30-goal mark if he had not been sidelined with a knee injury for over two months between February and April.

And the 26-year-old, who feels an early goal at Hampden is essential to him reaching the desired target, however, explained that winning the Scottish Cup is more important than his personal glory.

"I would be nice and if I get one early enough it's on”, Waghorn said in his pre-Hibernian press conference, when asked if he can reach the 30-goal mark.

“Winning the trophy is the most important thing though."

Hibernian challenged Rangers for the Scottish Championship title for a large part of the season before ultimately finishing in third spot on goal difference behind Falkirk.

As a result, Waghorn thinks Hibs will be a motivated outfit in the Scottish Cup final.

"Hibs will be a motivated side who will have a point to prove”, he added.

“It's up to us to play our game and do our job though."
