Leeds United head coach Steve Evans says he is "hurting" at not knowing whether he will be kept on at the club into next season.

Evans, who was appointed in October last year to succeed Uwe Rosler, sees his current contract at Elland Road run out at the end of June.

He is keen to remain in his post into next season, but there has been no decision made by Leeds chairman Massimo Cellino over a possible new contract for the Scot.

Evans, and Leeds, are in limbo and the Scot concedes that he is finding the current situation tough, even if he respects Cellino's right to take his time over a decision.

He told the Yorkshire Evening Post that he is "still waiting for the decision for next season from Cellino and the board."

And Evans explained: "I'm hurting at not knowing my future but I respect the right of club owners to make big decisions in a time and manner that suits."

It remains to be seen when Leeds will provide clarity over Evans' future at the club, especially as other Championship sides are already advanced in their planning for the 2016/17 campaign.
