New Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers says that he will sort out his backroom team over the course of the coming weeks and already has those he wants to bring in in mind.

Rodgers has put pen to paper on a 12-month rolling contract at Paradise and succeeds Ronny Deila at the Scottish champions.

Deila's assistant John Collins has left Paradise with the Norwegian, while there is expected to be a shake-up behind the scenes with Rodgers in place.

Rodgers talked up first team coach John Kennedy, who worked with Deila, while explaining he expects to finalise his own backroom team over the course of the next two weeks.

Asked at a press conference about his backroom team, Rodgers replied: "That's not complete yet. Probably over the course of the next couple of weeks we will confirm that.

"I've got that [my assistant] in mind and you've also got John Kennedy here, who is a great servant to the club.

"For me it's about a group of staff that can work closely with the players, improve them and win as many games as we can", the former Liverpool manager explained.

"In terms of my assistant and backroom staff I've got that in mind."

Rodgers will want to quickly get his team in place as Celtic look to prepare for the Champions League qualifiers; reaching the group stage is one of the Northern Irishman's key goals.
