Paris Saint-Germain came close to securing the services of Jose Mourinho, but the Portuguese has agreed a deal to become Manchester United manager.

While the club are yet to provide any official confirmation, Manchester United have reportedly sacked Louis van Gaal and Mourinho is expected to become the new manager at Old Trafford later this week.




It has been suggested that Manchester United have been in talks with Mourinho’s agents for months and there were also suggestions that they would have owed him compensation had they kept Van Gaal in his chair beyond the summer.

Paris Saint-Germain were also interested in hiring the former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager, and according to Portuguese daily Record they came close to securing his services.
 


However, it seems Manchester United made the first move and the Portuguese has agreed a deal to become the new manager at Old Trafford.

Manchester United were incessantly linked with the Portuguese for months, and there were also suggestions that Mourinho was waiting for the club to make a decision on Van Gaal.

And despite PSG’s hopes of getting him, 53-year-old is expected to be unveiled as Manchester United manager sometime this week.

Mourinho is also expected to receive a large transfer kitty to retool the current squad to his own liking this summer.
