Jose Mourinho has agreed personal terms with Manchester United over becoming their next manager and his long term coaching ally Rui Faria will be his assistant at Old Trafford.

Louis van Gaal and the rest of his coaching staff were sacked last night at Old Trafford, and Jorge Mendes was expected to meet the club hierarchy to finalise the deal for Mourinho today.




And it seems the Portuguese agent has done his job nice and early in the morning as according to Spanish daily Marca, Mourinho has agreed the final details of his contract with Manchester United.

The former Chelsea boss is expected to put pen to paper on a lucrative three-year deal to become the next Manchester United manager, with his long term coaching ally Faria assuming the assistant manager’s role.
 


Manchester United remain keen to retain the services of Ryan Giggs, who served as Van Gaal’s assistant, but Mourinho is yet to identify a role for the Red Devils legend.

There have been suggestions that the Welshman has been offered a reduced role under the Portuguese, and he is still deliberating whether to accept the club’s offer.

Manchester United are unlikely to confirm Mourinho’s appointment today, but an announcement is expected sometime later this week.

Mourinho won three Premier League titles at Chelsea during his two stints in west London but was sacked in December after a disastrous start to the season.
