Liverpool are considering offering a contract extension to defender Kolo Toure to keep him at the club beyond the summer.

The veteran defender was a key part of the Liverpool squad during the 2015/16 season, and Jurgen Klopp especially preferred to pair him with Dejan Lovren during the latter stages of their Europa League campaign.

Despite his contract expiring at the end of the season, Toure remains a popular member of the squad and there is a possibility that the club might offer him a new deal.

According to the Press Association, Liverpool are considering offering the 35-year-old defender a new contract and keeping his experience at the club beyond the summer.

And if Mamadou Sakho receives a lengthy ban for failing a drugs test, the club are keen to hold on to the 35-year-old as the Frenchman’s absence might stretch their defensive resources.
