West Ham United are struggling to get value for money in the summer transfer market, it has been claimed.

The Hammers have been linked with a number of players and are looking to strengthen their squad as they prepare for their first season at the Olympic Stadium, combined with Europa League football in the 2016/17 campaign.

And West Ham are working hard on signings, Jack Sullivan, son of the club's co-chairman David Sullivan, claims.

He insists the London side do have bids in for a number of players, but are struggling to find value for money to push the deals over the line.

Jack wrote on Twitter: "We have offers in for many players, though progress is slower than we anticipated.

"We are struggling to find value for money", he added.

West Ham have been linked with Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette, along with Marseille hitman Michy Batshuayi, while Arsenal forward Theo Walcott has been mooted as another potential arrival.

The club's work in the transfer market last summer under Slaven Bilic was lauded as they started the Premier League season strongly.
