Jose Mourinho looks unlikely to be presented as Manchester United's new manager today as he is heading back to Portugal.

The former Chelsea manager has been widely tipped to replace Louis van Gaal, who was sacked earlier this week, in the dugout at Old Trafford, but all parties are tight-lipped on the deal.

Manchester United fans are waiting with baited breath for news of Mourinho becoming the club's new manager, but they will have to wait longer still.

Indeed, according to ITV, Mourinho has confirmed he is heading to his native Portugal, meaning he is not likely to be presented as Manchester United's new manager today.

The Red Devils had been expected to quickly appoint Mourinho as they look to plan for next season, where they are expecting to be challenging at the top of the Premier League.
