Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has revealed that it will be nice to play against former team-mate Luis Suarez.

The 25-year-old Englishman, who made only 23 appearances for the Reds this season, sustained as many as three injuries in the recently concluded campaign which kept him out for 29 games in all competitions.

Liverpool will head to the United States for their pre-season to take part in the International Champions Cup, during which they will go head to head with Premier League rivals Chelsea and Serie A giants AC Milan.

The third fixture of the tournament for the Reds is scheduled to take place in England at Wembley, where they will be up against Catalan giants Barcelona.

The Anfield-based club did take part in the tournament back in 2014, when they were ousted 3-1 by Manchester United in the final.

Henderson has claimed that it would be nice to play against former Liverpool ace Suarez during their clash at Wembley.

He told Liverpool’s official website: “It’ll be good to be playing against Luis again.

“I’ve always spoken very highly of him – he’s one of the best players in the world. It’ll be good to be on the same pitch as him again, but obviously on opposite teams.

“Pre-season is always good at Liverpool. Wherever you go, the fans are incredible – whether that’s Australia, America or anywhere. It’s brilliant”, added the former Sunderland midfielder.

“I’m sure it will be the same, if not better, this time. We’re going to some good places and playing some good teams, so everybody is looking forward to it.”
