Rangers winger Barrie McKay has stressed the importance of the club playing their attacking brand of football in the Scottish Premiership next season.

Mark Warburton’s men dominated their way to winning the Championship with their attacking style of football, and earned promotion to the top tier with a good number of games left to play in the season.

However, following their famous Scottish Cup semi-final win over Celtic, Rangers’ season collapsed and they failed to win any of their final four league games.

The form carried on to the Scottish Cup final, where they suffered a heartbreaking defeat to Hibernian at Hampden Park, and closed out their campaign in a disappointing fashion.

McKay counted the positive of returning to the top tier, which was their goal at the start of the season, and insisted that their collapse towards the end of the season shouldn’t stop Rangers from playing their attacking brand of football in the Premiership.

The winger told the club’s official website: “The main target at the start of the season was to get the club back to where it belongs.

“And we were lucky enough to be able to do that by playing good and exciting football.

“We just need to keep doing that – playing our game and not focusing on the opposition, and I think we will be OK.”
