Former England winger John Barnes feels that Manchester United starlet Marcus Rashford must not play with any fear or pressure.

The 18-year-old, who was born in Manchester, made his debut for the Red Devils during their Europa League home clash against Midtjylland in which he racked up two goals. His Premier League debut came against rivals Arsenal, when he found the net twice to hand his side a 3-2 win.

The youngster scored as many as seven goals in all competitions for his side this season, including his brace against the Gunners and the winner against Manchester City.

Rashford, who has been selected as part of England’s provisional 26-man squad for Euro 2016, is likely to feature in tonight's warm-up clash against Australia, after Daniel Sturridge sustained a calf injury.

He was quoted as saying by the BBC: "You have to be very careful.

"If young players don't perform we're too quick to write them off.

"If he plays, he should play with no fear, no pressure", added Barnes, who was 19 when he won his first England cap in 1983.

"He's under no pressure whatsoever. I think he'll do OK because he's handled the Manchester United situation fine."

The clash against the Socceroos at the Stadium of Light is England’s second warm-up game before they play their third and final game against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal on 2nd June.
