Celtic midfielder Scott Allan admits that things have not gone according to plan this campaign, but he is keen to make sure he is in top condition for next season.

The 24-year-old signed for Celtic from Hibernian last summer, but due to competition for places in the middle of the park, the midfielder struggled for game time.

He made just three starts across the campaign for the Bhoys and a majority of his 17 appearances came from the bench, which was a source of frustration for Allan.

The midfielder was one of the key players for Hibernian, so he did struggle to come to terms with his new reality at Parkhead and Allan admits that he was hoping to play more.

However, he is keen to put the season behind him and return in top condition to Celtic this summer.

Allan told Celtic View: “Obviously it’s been another year of learning and even though I haven’t been playing, I’ve still worked hard.

“A lot was made when I signed here and I was hoping to play to put all that to bed, but when you aren’t playing it means it’s highlighted even more.

"It’s obviously been difficult but it’s something you have to deal with and I’ve just tried to get into the team.

“With the season coming to a close, I have to make sure I’m in the best physical condition for next season, give it a real go in pre-season and have a fresh start.”

Allan has scored just once and provided five assists for his team-mates in the 667 minutes of football he played in all competitions this season.
