Rangers and Motherwell have been paired together in the revamped Scottish League Cup group stages.

There are a total of eight groups, split into north and south, consisting of five teams each; the 38 SPFL teams not involved in Europe were included, in addition to Cove Rangers and East Stirlingshire from the Highland League and Lowland League respectively.




The eight group winners and four best runners-up will progress to the second round of the Scottish League Cup where they will be joined by Scotland’s European representatives Celtic, Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibernian.

Rangers have been drawn in Group F alongside Motherwell, Stranraer, East Stirlingshire and Annan Athletic.
 


On the other hand, reigning champions Ross County are paired with Raith Rovers, Alloa Athletic, Cove Rangers and Montrose in Group D.

Each team will play each other once, with games taking place from 16th and 30th July.

Drawn games will straight head for penalties and the winners of the shootout will be awarded a bonus point.
