Celtic midfielder Scott Allan wants to make a fresh start next season and is hoping to hit his stride as a Bhoy in the 2016/17 campaign.

A lot was expected when the 24-year-old joined Celtic from Hibernian last summer, but the midfielder endured a difficult season, where he made just three appearances in the starting eleven.

The majority of his 17 appearances came from the bench and the midfielder just played just 667 minutes of first team football for the Scottish champions across all competitions.

However, Allan is looking forward to making a fresh start under new manager Brendan Rodgers this summer and is hoping to impress the Northern Irishman during pre-season.

The midfielder revealed that he endured a similar start at Hibernian before hitting his stride and is hoping to do the same for Celtic next season.

When asked about next season, Allan told Celtic's official site: “I can’t wait to be honest and hopefully I can get some good pre-season games under my belt, get into the team and have a run.

“The fans have seen me nowhere near my best.

"As I said it took some time for me to get into my stride at Hibs and they saw the best of me and hopefully it will be the same here.

“It’s a fresh start and you want to make an impact on the new manager.

"Everyone is at the same level of fitness so there will be a few players including myself who will want to catch the new gaffer’s eye.”

Rodgers is known for promoting young talent from within and has insisted that he will first properly assess the Celtic squad before dipping his hands in the transfer market.
