Atalanta, Torino and Bologna have joined Sampdoria in the chase for Leeds United defender Giuseppe Bellusci, according to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato.

The 26-year-old, who fell out of favour with Leeds boss Steve Evans towards the end of last season, endured a difficult 2015/16 campaign.

Bellusci was widely criticised for his mistake-prone performances which resulted in Leeds dropping some vital points and speculation was also rife that he did not take kindly to being dropped by Evans.

The centre-back’s days at Elland Road could be numbered, although Leeds plan to keep him unless they receive a substantial offer, with Sampdoria keen to take him back to his homeland in the summer.

However, Vincenzo Montella’s team will not have a free run at Bellusci as fellow Serie A outfits Atalanta, Torino and Bologna are also interested in roping the former Catania man.

But Bellusci’s experience of playing under Montella at Catania could make Sampdoria his preferred destination.

The Italian, whose present contract with Leeds runs until 2018, has made 61 appearances in all competitions for the Whites.
