Garry Monk's agent has indicated that his client would be unlikely to turn down the head coach's job at Leeds United.

Leeds showed Steve Evans the door on Tuesday evening, making the Scot the sixth head coach to be removed by Whites owner Massimo Cellino in a two-year spell.

The former Rotherham United manager's sacking came following Monk being backed to odds on favourite to become the next Leeds boss and now the ex-Swansea City manager's agent has had his say on events.

Glen Corcoran was quoted as saying by the Yorkshire Evening Post: "Only my opinion, but Leeds is a big club.

"When you are out of work you wouldn't say no to a club like Leeds", the agent continued.

"If they are interested in him I am sure he would talk to them, but that's my opinion", Corcoran added.

"I will probably catch up with him tonight or tomorrow morning because I have obviously seen the press as well", he concluded.

Monk has been out of work since being sacked by Swansea in December, with the Welsh side on an alarming run of form which raised relegation worries at the Liberty Stadium.

Leeds have already been disappointed in their search for a new head coach as both Darrell Clarke (Bristol Rovers) and Karl Robinson (MK Dons) preferred the option of managing in League One to taking over at Elland Road.
